China's First 7-ton Delivery UAV Changying-8 Completes Maiden Flight
Xinhua News Agency, March 31 -- China's first 7-ton delivery and drop UAV Changying-8 has successfully made its maiden flight. It fills the domestic gap in large unmanned transport aircraft and provides new equipment support for low-altitude logistics and emergency support.
The UAV has a takeoff weight of 7 tons and a maximum payload of 3 tons. It is equipped with an 18-cubic-meter large through cargo hold, with a maximum range of over 3,000 kilometers, delivering long-distance and high-capacity transport performance.
Tailored for civilian scenarios including long-distance logistics, emergency rescue supply delivery, border material replenishment and operations in complex terrain, it can quickly build air transport passages in areas with poor infrastructure.
Featuring a modular design, it enables fast replacement of mission payloads. It supports autonomous takeoff and landing, route planning and obstacle avoidance, adapting to complex weather and geographical conditions while cutting labor costs and safety risks.
